Beginning on Monday, June 18, the Passenger Pick-up and Drop off (PPUDO) facility at Finch Station will be CLOSED for pavement replacement, structural repairs and modifications including concrete curbs, fencing, some lighting and drainage improvements. The configuration of the PPUDO will remain the same, and is scheduled to be reopened in September 2012. For a map of the affected area, please click here.
Temporary PPUDO Area
For the duration of the project, the nearby North Parking Lot at Finch Station will be made available for use as a fully operational temporary PPUDO area. Displaced accessible parking spaces in the North lot will be created in the West Parking lot.
Pedestrian Access
The PPUDO facility will be considered a work zone and as a result, all access points to and from this facility including the elevator will be restricted during construction. Customer/pedestrian access between the temporary PPUDO and Finch Station concourse will be via the existing sidewalk staircase entrance at the PPUDO. Directional signage will be posted.
Barrier Free Access
The elevator at the Finch GO Terminal located on the east side of Yonge Street, north of Bishop Avenue is available for access between street level and the Finch Station concourse.
Motorists Enter/Exit Temporary PPUDO
Motorists will enter one way via Hendon Avenue, west of Yonge Street, adjacent to the entrance to the West Parking Lot. Motorists will exit to southbound Yonge Street only. Signage will be posted.
Station/West Parking Lot Access
Access between the station concourse and West Parking lot will remain unchanged during the project; via the street level staircase, which will also provide access between the station and temporary PPUDO.
Equipment and Contractor Compound
Work at street level within the PPUDO will be conducted with heavy construction equipment. Two trailers will be parked onsite in the PPUDO for the contractor’s and TTC’s office requirements during the project.
Work Hours
Work will be largely confined to the hours of 7a.m. and 7p.m. on weekdays. Occasionally, the contractor may need to work later in the day or on weekends. Overnight work will be required to safely conduct concrete structural repairs within the station’s underground passage way leading to and from the PPUDO.
We regret any inconvenience that may be caused as a result of this work and necessary closure.
