Meet The Team

Jesse James

Jesse’s organizing skills are renown in Willowdale after many years of building connections between neighbours and community members. For almost nine years he worked with Youth Unlimited doing outreach among many of Willowdale’s most marginalized youth and families. In 2018, he responded to the Yonge Street tragedy by co-founding We Love Willowdale and organizing a range of community responses. Jesse holds a Masters of Divinity from Tyndale Seminary. He joined John’s team in 2019.

Mark Striffler

An experienced City Hall member, Mark tackles the Transportation, Water, Toronto Hydro, Buildings, Engineering and Construction, TTC, and the Committee of Adjustment portfolios. If you have any questions regarding any of these please let us know, he’s always happy to help

Nicole Hausmann

Nicole has joined John’s team working on a range of Parks, Forestry, & Recreation projects. She previously worked on the outreach team at a local environmental non-profit for over four years with a focus on protecting Ontario’s Greenbelt and promoting the Blue Flag beach program. She holds a Bachelor of Urban and Regional Planning from Ryerson, as well as a Master of Management from UBC. She joined John’s team in 2020.

Markus O'Brien-Fehr

An active political organizer in Willowdale for over a decade at all levels of government, Markus joined John’s team in 2011 as Executive Assistant/Chief of Staff.

 

He has served on the boards of a local condo, at Yonge Hearts Child Care and on the Parent Council at Cameron Public School.

 

He also sits on the board of Kids in Camp, a charitable foundation, continuing the work he did for 15 years in the field of children’s recreation.

 

He received a Canada 150 Medallion in 2018 for outstanding contributions to community

Catherine Leblanc-Miller

Catherine became John’s office go-to on all large scale planning and development matters in 2011, along with working on expanding local child care facilities.

 

Catherine served as a trustee with the Toronto Catholic District School board from 2002 until 2010 including a term as chair.

 

She has also served as a conference president with the Society of St. Vincent de Paul working towards poverty alleviation.

Sarah Barber

Sarah has worked on the front lines of John’s office resolving constituent cases since 2012. 

 

She currently manages our office and handles all matters related to Municipal Licensing & Property Standards.

 

Sarah holds a diploma in Legal Office Administration from Seneca College and has past experience working with public interest, strategy and communications.
