Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the City has been unable to run its usual Environment Days in 2020 or 2021 for an opportunity to safely dispose of unwanted household items. Instead, the City will be hosting drive-through events in the fall at Drop-Off Depots, including options to drop off electronics or hazardous waste, donate household items to the Salvation Army or even pick up a free bag (or two) of compost for your garden. If there are things you'd like to get rid of piling up in your basement, garage or storage locker, make note of the following dates and locations. Each are available from 10 AM – 2 PM.
September 12 – Dufferin transfer Station (35 Vanley Crescent)
September 19 – Ingram Transfer Station (50 Ingram Drive)
October 3 – Victoria Park Transfer Station (3350 Victoria Park)
In September, the City also traditionally mailed out a waste collection calendar. Due to a budget decision at Council last year (which John opposed), these will not be a calendar sent for 2022. Instead, be on the lookout for a condensed schedule that will be mailed with your upcoming utility bill. You can also access this information online here or by downloading the TOwaste app.
