An effort is underway to save Toronto’s oldest tree, the Heritage Oak on Coral Gable Drive in North York. Due to its size, age, beauty and cultural significance, this magnificent 250-year-old oak is recognized as a heritage tree under Forests Ontario’s Heritage Tree Program. Following Council’s direction earlier this year, the City has an agreement to purchase the property and establish the space as a parkette to preserve and showcase this beautiful example of our natural heritage.
To make this project a success, we need an additional $220,000 in donations to save this beautiful tree, and a part of our heritage. The deadline is December 12, 2020, and you can donate at https://www.toronto.ca/business-economy/partnerships-sponsorships-donations/donate/heritage-red-oak-tree/.
All donations over $20 qualify for a tax receipt.
