Toronto is home to hundreds of species of bees, butterflies and other pollinators critical to our ecosystem. Many are under stress due to shrinking habitats and changing climate. To encourage the establishment of pollinator gardens in areas visible to the public, the City provides grants of up to $5,000 for resident, neighbourhood or community groups; schools or parent councils; faith groups; or registered charitable groups and not-for-profits.
The City is now accepting applications for its PollinateTO Grants. Suitable locations may include City boulevards, school yards, or even a series of front yards on a single street creating a “pollinator pathway.” The deadline for 2022 project applications is November 1, 2021.
